Geese are social, often mate for life, and form lifelong bonds. Canada geese fly 40–50 mph and migrate thousands of miles. On ground a group is a gaggle; in flight a skein, wedge, or team. Goslings imprint on the first moving object, usually their mother. Geese remember individuals and recognize humans. Their V-formation cuts wind resistance and saves energy. They use a dozen+ distinct calls for alarm, contact, and coordination.
